HELSTAR: New Album Title, Release Date Announced
September 8, 2010Legendary Texas metallers HELSTAR have set "Glory Of Chaos" as the title of their new album, due on November 5 via Germany's AFM Records. The effort will be made available as a regular CD and on limited-edition vinyl.
HELSTAR celebrated the release of its "Rising From The Grave" box set with a headlining performance on August 7 at The House Of Rock in Corpus Christi, Texas. Video footage of the concert can be viewed at this location.
Released in Europe on July 5 via Metal Blade Records, the "Rising From The Grave" box set features remastered versions of the "A Distant Thunder" and "Nosferatu" albums. The package also includes the brand new DVD "Twas The Night Of A Hellish Xmas".
The first authorized live video recording by HELSTAR, the DVD was recorded at the Backstage Club in Houston, Texas on December 25, 1989 and it features original HELSTAR members James Rivera on vocals along with Larry Barragan and Jerry Abarca. It was mastered by Ty Tabor (KING'S X) and James Rivera.
Formed in Houston in the early '80s, HELSTAR cut its teeth playing backyard parties and small club gigs. It soon became apparent that HELSTAR had much more to offer then its contemporaries. Combat Records snapped up the band and released HELSTAR's debut, "Burning Star", in 1984. Next came "Remnants of War", followed by HELSTAR's breakthrough album, "A Distant Thunder", in 1988. The success of "A Distant Thunder" ultimately set up HELSTAR's most critically acclaimed album, 1989's "Nosferatu".
HELSTAR's latest album, "The King of Hell", received a North American release in January 2009 via Locomotive Records. The CD was issued in Europe in September 2008 on AFM Records.
